Tottenham in advanced talks over loan move for Juventus star Milos Krasic
Spurs have until 11pm to complete a deal for the Serbian winger as they battle Zenit St Petersburg for his signature, with his arrival likely to signal Steven Pienaar's departure
Sources in Italy have told Goal.com that Spurs have been locked in negotiations with the Italian giants this afternoon concerning a temporary switch, with the Londoners wanting an option to make the switch permanent at the end of the season.
Zenit St Petersburg are also in the hunt for Krasic but Tottenham are hopeful of reaching an agreement for the Serbian winger before the transfer window closes at 11pm tonight.
Krasic, 27, is considered by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp to provide competition for first-choice wingers Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon. His arrival at White Hart Lane would pave the way for the potential departure of South African midfielder Steven Pienaar, who is a target for QPR and Everton.
Spurs first expressed an interest in Krasic earlier in the month but Juventus have been reluctant to agree to a loan deal, preferring to sell a player who has failed to settle since joining from CSKA Moscow for €15m (£12.4m) in 2010.
But Juventus now appear ready to allow Krasic to leave on loan as he searches for first-team football.
Spurs are attempting to reach an agreement for a loan switch but Krasic’s agent Vlado Borozan has suggested a return to Russia to play for Zenit is the most likely option.
Tottenham assistant manager Joe Jordan admitted earlier today that any deal for Krasic would depend on the player’s desire to move to England, with his £100,000-a-week wages understood to be seen as a potential stumbling block.
"Krasic is one of the many names that the transfer market offers, but a successful negotiation will depend on the will of the player,” Jordan told tuttojuve.com.
