The 75-year-old has revealed the Latics have yet to hear from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and says the club were close to completing a deal for Fulham striker Andy JohnsonRob Stewart | Northern Correspondent
Wigan owner Dave Whelan has revealed the club have yet to receive an offer from Tottenham for Hugo Rodallega, despite continued speculation linking the striker with a switch to White Hart Lane.
The Colombian international has been rumoured to be on the verge of a move away from Lancashire but Whelan has now insisted that a bid has yet to materialise.
The chairman also revealed the club were close to completing deal for Fulham striker Andy Johnson but admitted this was scuppered by the forward's reluctance to leave London.
Whelan told Goal.com: “We can’t really do anything at the present because we really don’t know the outcome of it all.
"The deal with Fulham is off because the lad from Fulham, Andy Johnson, would not come north to Wigan.
“We have not heard anything from Tottenham about Hugo. We have heard rumours but we have heard nothing from Tottenham on Hugo.
“There are not any other clubs that are in for Hugo from what we know so there is a chance that he could still be a Wigan player until the end of the season. We will just have to wait and see what happens.”
Rodallega’s contract expires in the summer and Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is thought to be willing to cash in on one of his key assets to free up funds for new signings.
