Bayer Leverkusen are believed to be interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Vedran Corluka on the final day of the January transfer window, according to The Sun.The Croatian moved to Spurs in 2008 and displaced Alan Hutton - who has since moved to Aston Villa - to occupy the right-back spot.
But the emergence of youngster Kyle Walker has seen the former Manchester City defender starved of playing time, having made only three appearances in the Premier League this season.
As a result, there has been continued speculation over the future of the 25-year-old, with the player being linked with moves to Juventus and Roma, although his agent denied suggestions the ex-Dinamo Zagreb would make the switch to Turin.
Now reports are suggesting that the defender is closing in on a loan move to Bundesliga side Leverkusen, and could make a permanent transfer in the summer.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have recalled 20-year-old right-back Adam Smith from his loan spell at MK Dons, with the youngster likely to provide cover in defence if Corluka does depart White Hart Lane.
