Bolton defender Zat Knight calls for focus ahead of crucial Arsenal encounter

The Englishman is confident that his side can build on their win against Liverpool and get through a tough run of fixtures which may decide their Premier League status

Bolton Wanderers defender Zat Knight has called for focus ahead of a crucial showdown with Arsenal as the Trotters look to stave off the threat of relegation.

Owen Coyle's mean are in good form going into Wednesday’s clash at the Reebok having won their last three games, including a 3-1 home victory over Champions League-chasers Liverpool.

And Knight believes that his side have what it takes to get something against the Gunners who are currently on a poor run of form in the Premier League having endured three successive defeats against Swansea, Fulham and Manchester United.

However, the Englishman admitted it won't be an easy game against the north Londoners, who are pushing for a top four berth in the Premier League this season.

The 31-year-old told the club's official website: "A few of the boys had been saying we haven't beaten any of the top four in a while. It was a good occasion and a good performance against Liverpool.

"It was a bit disappointing to concede one goal, but we were playing against some quality strikers. If we can take that kind of performance into every week I think we can be safe.

"We've got Arsenal, and then a few weeks later Manchester City and Chelsea. They are all starting to fight for the Champions League spots and the points are vital for them as well as they are for us. 

"We just have to stay focused. We're one point above the relegation zone at the moment so we're out of the bottom three.

"If we can get something against Arsenal and then something at Carrow Road it will put us in good stead for the last 14 games of the season.

"The boys are confident at the minute. Training has been good, the boys have got a spring in their step and everyone's feeling very confident."
