Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has insisted youngsters Victor Moses and James McCarthy are not for sale in January, but refused to rule out the sale of striker Hugo Rodallega.

The Latics manager is unwilling to weaken his squad, with the Lactics facing a fight to stay in the Premier League as they currently lying bottom of the table with just under half the season left to go.

Former Crystal Palace man Moses has reportedly been on the radar of QPR after a number of impressive showings at the DW Stadium, but Martinez is adamant he will not be going anywhere in the transfer window.

"Victor Moses is not for sale. He is one of the biggest assets we have at the club," the Spaniard told Sky Sports.

"He is one of the players who represent Wigan [in terms of what the club stands for] as he is young with fantastic potential and has had great development in the last season or so. He is not on the market, he is not for sale and that is the end of the matter.

"Victor and James are the two younger players in this football club [both are 21 years old] and it would be wrong for us to sell these assets."

The Nigerian-born forward has started every league match so far this season, and has been one of few consistent threats in an attack that has scored the fewest goals in the Premier League.

Meanwhile James McCarthy has been on the radar of several bigger clubs after impressing with his mature displays in midfield.

As for 26-year-old Rodallega, whose contract expires at the end of the season, Martinez did not offer the same assurances.

The Columbian international forward’s form this season has not matched his efforts in previous campaigns, and the club may take the opportunity to cash in on reported interest from Fulham, QPR and West Brom.

He explained: "Obviously with other players, when you get into a position when your contract is short-term with the club it is a completely different situation.

"We are in a position where no-one is bigger than the football club. Whatever could happen over the next 48 hours will be in the best interest of Wigan. Every individual situation is going to be down to that measurement."
