Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas reveals John Terry may be given time off to fight racism allegations
The Blues boss says he will grant his captain leave if the situation requires it, but insists he will pick the 31-year-old as long as his performances remain unaffected

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has revealed John Terry will be given time off to fight allegations of racial abuse if the situation requires it.
Terry has continued to captain the Blues despite facing criminal charges for allegedly racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand during a Premier League clash at Loftus Road back in October.
The pair met again for the first time since the incident in Saturday’s FA Cup Fourth Round clash where Chelsea triumphed 1-0, but the contest itself was overshadowed by the FA’s decision to cancel the customary pre-match handshake between the teams, with reports claiming the QPR players intended to boycott Terry in support of Ferdinand.
With the court case set to begin this week, Villas-Boas confirmed he would be prepared to give his captain time off if needed, saying: "Eventually, if it is important for the justice, we will do it."
Terry was subjected to relentless abuse from the QPR fans throughout Saturday’s match, and Villas-Boas praised his captain for resisting the temptation to react and instead producing another solid performance.
"He is a player that has been through various situations, situations of stress and great, difficult atmospheres,” he added.
"Bearing in mind the events that have happened in the past, he showed that this was just another game for him and he was just interested in football.
“He had an extremely good performance."
While he is prepared to give Terry time off if required, Villas-Boas also insists he will continue to select the 31-year-old as long as his performance levels remain unaffected.
"You have seen with the off-field events, we haven't stopped using John, and his level of performance has not been affected," he said.
"If that continues to be the case, we will continue to do it."
