Chelsea must sell Didier Drogba in order for Fernando Torres to flourish, claims former boss Carlo Ancelotti
The Italian coach, now at Paris Saint-Germain, believes that the striker whom he brought to Stamford Bridge for £50 million needs the chance to step out of the Ivorian's shadow

Shanghai Shenhua are among the sides interested in swooping for Drogba, with the 33-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, and Ancelotti believes that the Ivorian’s departure would benefit the misfiring Spaniard.
“Didier is like [AC Milan forward] Filippo Inzaghi, he tends to devour whoever is in his way,” the Italian coach told The Daily Telegraph.
“It is not malice, they are just made like that.
“Take Torres and his crisis. If you decide to invest so heavily in him you have to sell Drogba.”
Since arriving at Stamford Bridge in a £50 million deal Torres has endured a torrid time in front of goal for his new side, netting just five times in 41 appearances.
The 27-year-old has registered the same amount of goals so far in the 2011-12 campaign as central defender John Terry, with fellow forwards Drogba, Daniel Sturridge and Juan Mata all ahead of him in the club’s scoring charts.
Ancelotti had earlier claimed that Torres’ was one of several names of high-profile strikers being touted by agents, officially or otherwise, for a transfer during the current January transfer window.
