Bayern Munich set sights on Manchester United's Dimitar Berbatov & Basel's Xherdan Shaqiri - report
The German giants are keen to strengthen their defence and attack at the end of the season, and have earmarked a number of players as potential targets for the summer

Bayern Munich are looking to add some fresh blood at the end of the season and have set their sights on Manchester United attacker Dimitar Berbatov and Basel winger Xherdan Shaqiri, Sport Bild reports.
On Monday, Goal.com exclusively revealed the Bavarians consider Schalke defender Benedikt Howedes to be the perfect candidate to strengthen their defence, and they are reportedly looking abroad for attacking reinforcements.
Aside from a centre-back, Bayern have made the capture of a striker one of their top priorities as Ivica Olic is set to leave the club on a Bosman move this summer, and they are eager to sign the 30-year-old Berbatov as his replacement.
The former Bulgaria international has an expiring contract with United, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson recently confirmed the club will exercise their option to extend the player's deal. Therefore, Bayern could face a tough task to lure the striker to the Allianz Arena.
Berbatov was previously linked with a return to Bayer Leverkusen, but CEO Wolfgang Holzhauser denied interest.
In addition, Bayern have shown an interest in signing the 20-year-old Shaqiri as an alternative to Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery on the wings.
The Basel star has a contract with Basel until the summer of 2014, but could be available for a fee in the region of €15 million (£12.4m).
Shaqiri has also caught the attention of clubs such as Lille, Porto, Dynamo Kiev, Barcelona, Liverpool and Borussia Monchengladbach.
