Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny apologises after telling team-mate Aaron Ramsey 'you look like a rapist'
The outspoken Polish shot stopper has retracted the controversial comments he made about his Gunners colleague which caused a stir amongst his followers
Szczesny, 21, took to the social networking site after looking at a photo of his Gunners team-mate dressed in golf clothing and tweeted: “@aaronjramsey I don't wanna be rude mate but you look like a rapist on that picture! Lol.”
Before going onto tweet: “@aaronjramsey Looking like a rapist/pedofile isn't a good thing either ;)”
Both players featured in the Gunners narrow FA Cup win over Leeds United on Monday and Ramsey responded to Szczesny’s comments by tweeting back: “@13Szczesny13 jealousy is not a good thing mate.”
The Polish shots stopper later went on to apologise for his controversial comments by tweeting: “I'm sorry if anyone was offended by my previous tweets. There are some thing we should not joke about and I have crossed the line. Sorry!'”
Szczesny’s comments caused shock amongst some of his followers with one responding: “1 thinks that you are digging yourself a twitter grave,” while another tweeted: “The sooner wenger bans you from twitter the better.”
The latest incident is not the first time Arsene Wenger’s players have found themselves in hot water on Twitter. Midfielder Jack Wilshere broke Uefa rules in December by betting on his own team - something the 20-year-old revealed via the social networking site.
