The 20-year-old says he hopes to return to his homeland in a bid to secure regular first-team football after failing to stand out with recent loan spells at Fulham and Bolton

Chelsea youngster Gael Kakuta believes he is close to agreeing a deal to join Dijon on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old winger caused a storm of controversy when he arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2007, with former club Lens claiming their player had been approached illegally and the Blues being hit with a transfer ban which was only revoked on appeal.

But Kakuta has failed to break into the Chelsea first team and has had unproductive loan spells with Fulham and, more recently, Bolton. Now he says he hopes to find regular first-team opportunities back in his homeland.

"I made the choice to go to Dijon because I saw them play and they play good football," Kakuta told the Canal Football Club television show.

"Coach Patrice Carteron convinced me. I hope it will be sorted in the next 24 hours. Talks are still going on."
