Blackburn Rovers identify Bastia winger Wahbi Khazri as replacement for Junior Hoilett - report
The Lancashire club will apparently look to the young Frenchman to replace the Canadian attacker, whose contract is set to expire and is likely to move away from Ewood Park
Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has identified French winger Wahbi Khazri as a replacement for Junior Hoilett, according to The Mirror.
The report claims Kean sent scouts to watch the tall 20-year-old star in Bastia’s surprise cup win over Sochaux, scoring a goal in the process.
With his contract running out, Khazri would reportedly be within Rovers’ budget at a cost of around £1 million, while a replacement is needed urgently given Hoilett’s importance to the team and likely departure.
The versatile attacker has been one of Rovers’ biggest successes so far this season, and has scored three Premier League goals for the side as they battle to avoid relegation.
However, his contract expires in the summer, and Bolton are reportedly ready to offer £5 million to sign him.
The Canadian has been watched by several clubs but has not yet attracted a firm offer. Tottenham and Stoke are understood to be considering a move for the forward, but may prefer to wait until the summer.
