Landon Donovan delighted at Everton return in loan deal from LA Galaxy

The 29-year-old spent two months at Goodison Park in 2010 in the MLS off-season and is excited to be back again for a similar length to help the Toffees out over the winter period

LA Galaxy's Landon Donovan is delighted to be returning to Everton for a two-month loan spell.

The 29-year-old, who can play in midfield or in a more forward role, scored twice in 13 appearances for the Toffees in his two-month stint two years ago.

With 2012’s MLS season not beginning until March, Donovan has opted to spend a couple of months back at Goodison Park and revealed his joy at reuniting with past team-mates.

“It's very good to be back, I am excited,” the player told Sky Sports News.

“It's good to see the faces and fortunately the first face I saw was that of [captain] Phil Neville who had a lot to say. It's good to be back and to see everyone.

“There are a few faces I had not seen before so it's nice to meet them, and also to see the old faces. It's good to be back in training."

Donovan enjoyed a trophy-winning campaign at LA Galaxy this season, and the USA international insisted the Merseyside club is practically a second home to him after his exploits across the Atlantic.

“Who wouldn't want to come back to this? Just walking through this morning it felt good,” the former Bayer Leverkusen attacker added.

“The minute I stepped off the plane two years ago and got to Goodison to watch Everton’s game against Carlisle, I felt wanted here, I felt respected and I felt like a piece of their family.

“And that resonates and stays with you. So when I had the opportunity this year, there was no doubt that if it could work out, then I wanted to come back.”
