Cruzeiro offer wonderkid Leo Bonatini in bid for Manchester City's Roque Santa Cruz
The club's sporting director has revealed the Brazilian side will use the 17-year-old as a bargaining chip in an attempt to sign the out-of-favour Eastlands striker
By Clark Whitney
Sporting director Dimas Fonseca confirmed that signing Santa Cruz is his first priority in the transfer market, and that he has already made contact with City, offering the 17-year-old Bonatini to sweeten the deal.
"A delegate has made contact with City about the possibility of a transfer. We are waiting for an answer in the coming days," Fonseca told Globoesporte.
However, the sporting director is not so sure that a deal will be struck.
"I think it will be a little difficult. Leo is one of our promising talents, but Roque is already an established player. But if the deal is to our liking, we will pursue it."
Santa Cruz is currently on loan at Real Betis. The 30-year-old has made just 20 Premier League appearances for City since 2009, scoring three goals.
