thumbnail Hello,

Phil Jones doesn't feature following a knock picked up in the 5-0 victory over Fulham, whilst Sir Alex Ferguson hands Dimitar Berbatov a berth following his goal at Craven Cottage

Wayne Rooney has been rested for Manchester United's Boxing Day clash with Wigan at Old Trafford, with both the 26-year-old and Danny Welbeck dropping to the bench.

Dimitar Berbatov partners Javier Hernandez up front after the Bulgarian scored United's final goal in the 5-0 rout of Fulham on Wednesday.

Phil Jones has failed to recover from a facial injury sustained in a clash with Clint Dempsey at Craven Cottage, whilst Chris Smalling is reportedly suffering from tonsillitis, meaning Michael Carrick and Antonio Valencia must provide cover in defence.

Ji-Sung Park and Darron Gibson come into the Red Devils midfield, whilst Anders Lindegaard maintains his starting berth in goal with David de Gea amongst the substitutes.

Roberto Martinez, meanwhile, names the same starting XI that held Liverpool to a goalless draw at the DW Stadium in midweek, with Victor Moses, Jordi Gomez and Conor Sammon leading the Latics' line.

Manchester United starting XI:
Lindegaard; Valencia, Carrick, Evans, Evra; Park, Gibson, Giggs, Nani; Chicharito, Berbatov.

Subs: De Gea, Rooney, Welbeck, Rafael, Macheda, Diouf, Fryers.

Wigan starting XI: Al Habsi; Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa; Stam, Diame, McCarthy, Jones; Moses, Sammon, Gomez.

Subs: Pollitt, McArthur, Watson, Crusat, Rodallega, Di Santo, Gohouri.
