Yossi Benayoun has expressed his relief at getting his first goal for Arsenal after being frustrated by missing out on recent fixtures.

The Israeli, on loan from Chelsea, stooped to nod home a headed goal from a Robin van Persie corner to snatch all three points at Aston Villa on Wednesday night and was relieved to have grasped the opportunity to make a mark.

"I don't know if I felt the goal was coming, but every time I get the chance to play I'm doing my best,” Benayoun told The Sun.

"I didn't play in the last two games and of course you get a bit frustrated. You wait for your chance and I'm glad I scored the winner."

Benayoun, 31, had told of his frustration in a tweet following the Gunners' loss to Manchester City on Sunday, saying he hoped "better days will come soon".

Captain Van Persie, who also scored in the 2-1 win at Villa Park, expressed his pleasure in seeing the former Liverpool man take his chance.

"It was really good for Yossi because he has been training unbelievably well. Everyone was hoping he would get a chance. We are all so pleased for him,” he said.
