Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry believes the race for the Premier League title is in their hands but warned his team-mates they must maintain their recent level of performance.
Roberto Mancini’s side are currently two points clear of rivals Manchester United at the top of the table after 17 games this season, and Barry is delighted with his side's run of form.
He told the club’s official website: "At the moment, things are going really well.
"We have set a fast pace in the Premier League, but we are still only two points clear at the top. That shows us that there are still other good teams around.
"All the time we are top, we know it is in our own hands and we will keep trying to win games."
The England international has played an integral part in City’s excellent start to the season in the central midfield role with Yaya Toure.
Despite the quality within the squad at Mancini’s disposal, the midfielder has started the last five games in succession, and is determined to keep his place in the starting XI.
Barry said: "I feel really good at the moment, really fit.
"It's good to get a good run in the team because the players we have in the squad, it is sometimes hard to get a constant run.
"But when you are playing regularly that obviously helps you. I am really enjoying my football at the moment."
