Wolves manager Mick McCarthy concerned at side's failure to pick up wins following Norwich City draw

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy has admitted his "concern" about his team's inability to claim victory after another Premier League stalemate against Norwich City.

A pulsating Molineux contest saw the Canaries take the lead twice, only for them to be pegged back by strikes from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Ronald Zubar. The result left Wolves two points off the relegation zone in 16th place and continued a winless run against the promoted sides.

Speaking to reporters, a wistful McCarthy revealed his hope for a bit of luck to turn draws into wins after Steven Fletcher's 90th minute strike had been correctly called offside in a marginal call.

He said: "We got off to the worst possible start, really, conceding a goal. They started well and had a couple more chances.

"I thought when we got back into the game we were on top of it at the end of the first half and continued that in the second half.

"I thought we started that great and they scored against the run of play. At the end it's a bit crazy and we have a borderline offside decision - which was offside.

"It'd be nice to get a borderline decision but that would have been hugely unfair on Paul Lambert and his team."

The season has so far seen Wolves, in three home games against the promoted sides, lose 3-0 to Queens Park Rangers and draw 2-2 with Swansea City and Norwich.

"Of course there's a concern about turning draws into wins," McCarthy stated. "I'm not sat here blissfully happy after a 2-2 draw with Norwich at Molineux.

"We've just had two home games against the promoted sides and were not a team that won."

The match saw Canaries midfielder Andrew Surman draw a line on a frustrating spell with Wolves from June 2009 to July 2010 with a goal against his former employers.

McCarthy stated he wasn't surprised that "a different 'Surs' [sic]" had struck. He said: "'Surs' is a good player and he's had a couple of years playing since he left here.

"It's a different 'Surs' and so is Elliott Bennett, I could see that one with the writing on the wall.

"I could name you a few ex-players that have done that to me. It seems anybody who leaves the club seems to score."
