Porto president Jorge Pinto da Costa tells Chelsea to forget about January move for Alvaro Pereira
The Portuguese giants have confirmed none of their star players will leave in the upcoming transfer window, meaning their talented full-back is unlikely to depart for the Blues
By Shane Farrington
The Uruguay international was heavily linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge last summer but Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas may well now have to search for an alternative, after the Europa League holder's chief Jorge Pinto da Costa ruled out a sale.
"I have guaranteed to the coach that none of the players he considered to be part of the team's core would leave,” Pinto da Costa told Mais Futebol.
“If Alvaro Pereira was to leave, for example, he would have left already.
"They say, for example, that Juventus are preparing an offer of £3.4 million for Guarin. For £3.4, Juventus would not even take one of your youth squad players."
Pereira has impressed since joining Porto back in 2009 from Cluj, and has established himself as first-choice for his country.
