Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny: David de Gea can be one of the best in the world
The Polish stopper took to Twitter to defend the Spaniard after his error cost the Red Devils a goal in a defeat to Basel which saw them crash out of the Champions League

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has hit back at critics of Manchester United stopper David de Gea, claiming the Spaniard has the potential to be one of the best in the world.
21-year-old De Gea has come in for criticism after several erratic displays this season and was culpable again for FC Basel’s first goal in their 2-1 Champions League win over United on Wednesday.
The defeat saw Sir Alex Ferguson's men crash out of Champions League group C with their Swiss opponents qualifying alongside Benfica.
After that match, Polish international Szczesny posted on Twitter defending his fellow goalkeeper and stated he could be one of the best in the world if given the chance to adapt.
He said: “I don't agree with the De Gea criticism. He's potentially one of the best goalkeepers in the world but needs time to get his confidence at Manchester United.
“You have to perform at your best every game when you play for big clubs and when De Gea is at his best he is UNREAL! Give him some time.”
The Spaniard moved to Old Trafford in the summer for a fee believed to be around £18.9million. He has made 16 appearances for the Red Devils so far.
