thumbnail Hello,

Ivorian forward Gervinho comes into the starting XI in place of Andrey Arshavin, as Arsene Wenger maintains the Premier League centre-back pairing of Mertesacker and Vermaelen

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has returned to the Gunners starting XI for their clash with Wigan at the DW Stadium on Saturday.

The Dutch forward sat out Tuesday's 1-0 League Cup defeat to Manchester City at the Emirates, but starts alongside Theo Walcott and Gervinho up front, with the Ivorian forward returning to the side in the place of Andrey Arshavin.

Laurent Koscielny is set to start at right-back in the only other change from last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Fulham, as Johan Djourou drops out of the first-team, as Arsene Wenger retains the partnership of Per Mertesacker and Thomas Vermaelen at centre-back.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez opts to maintain an attacking trio of Conor Sammon, Victor Moses and Jordi Gomez following last week's 2-1 victory over Sunderland, with Franco Di Santo, who scored the later winner at the Stadium of Light, on the bench.

Arsenal starting XI:
Szczesny; Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Andre Santos; Song, Arteta, Ramsey; Gervinho, Walcott, Van Persie.

Wigan starting XI: Al Habsi; Stam, Caldwell, Gohouri, Figueroa; McCarthy, Jones, Diame; Gomez, Moses; Sammon.

Subs: Pollitt, Crusat, Watson, Di Santo, McArthur, Rodallega, Lopez
