Yohan Cabaye confident Newcastle can inflict further misery on Chelsea

The Frenchman is looking for a repeat of the Magpies performance at Old Trafford, and is unable to decide between the two Manchester clubs' Premier League title hopes

Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye is confident that the Magpies can secure a result against Chelsea on Saturday, if they match their performance in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United last weekend.

Boss Alan Pardew described his player's display at Old Trafford as 'heroic', after they recovered from a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City to secure a point from Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

The Frenchman believes the Eastland's clash prepared the north east team for the clash with United, and Cabaye is confident they can continue their flying start to the season by taking points from Andre Villas-Boas' under-fire Chelsea.

Cabaye told the Northern Echo: "We learned from the City game, we learned not to give Man United too much respect.

"It was important to play higher up the pitch and I think we did well. Against Chelsea, we have to play like we did at Old Trafford.

"We have to believe in ourselves, it's important to win the game.

“We've got to play like the winning team. We will be at home so we have to play like a top-of-the-league team to win this match."

After facing the two Manchester rivals in successive weeks, Cabaye is certain they will both be fighting for the Premier League title, but the former Lille man is unable to decide who he thinks will clinch the trophy come May.

"I think the two Manchester clubs will be the top two for the rest of the season, I think they will be the teams fighting for the league,” he added.

"Are City better? I don't know. It's hard to compare the two. Man United have some very good players, so it is difficult to simply say that Man City are better than Man United."
