Meanwhile, fellow striker Danny Welbeck is still not ready to feature, as United try to move to within two points of rivals Manchester City at the top of the table with a win against Alan Pardew's men.
But the Magpies are also in good form, sitting fourth in the table, and have star striker Demba Ba in their line-up, as well as playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa, who is returning to form after a year out with a broken leg.
