Jose Bosingwa has admitted that Chelsea need to pick their form this season up if they are to challenge for major silverware.

The Blues are already 12 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City and go into their last Champions League group game in two weeks with qualification to the next round still not secured.

Bosingwa revealed to the Daily Mirror: "Everyone was down after the defeat in Leverkusen, because no-one expected it and we need to change the direction of our season.

"The dressing room has been affected by the defeats and now we have to relaunch our season.

"Andre Villas-Boas is a big coach. Nobody doubts that he can do the right job for Chelsea.

"But we are conceding late goals, dropping points, and it's impossible to fight for big titles if we keep doing that."

Chelsea have already lost four league games this season, including crushing defeats to Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Their other defeat came in an all west London match with QPR which saw Bosingwa and Didier Drogba sent off, as well as John Terry and Anton Ferdinand's clash which is still under investigation due to alleged racism from the England captain.
