Manchester United tracking Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia- report

Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be monitoring the progress of the 24-year-old Moroccan centre-back, along with Italian giants AC Milan and French side Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester United have targeted Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia as potential new signing, according to tuttomercatoweb.

Sir Alex Ferguson is said to have sent scouts to watch the Moroccan defender last weekend, when his side went down 2-0 away at Parma.

The 24-year-old is a versatile player who can play at centre-back or right-back.

Such qualities have seen him tracked by many other European giants, including Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.

The Moroccan is already an accomplished international defender, with 13 caps to his name. He did however represent France at Under-18 level, before switching allegiances to Morocco.

Benatia’s contract with Udinese expires in June 2015.
