Steven Gerrard's situation at Liverpool reminds Gary Neville of Bryan Robson's days at Manchester United
Former Red Devil hails the midfielder as one of the best in England in his time, and insists that it would be a shame if he is unable to win the league title at some point

Gary Neville says that Steven Gerrard's situation at Liverpool reminds him of Bryan Robson's days at Manchester United.
Robson joined the Red Devils in 1981, but had to wait well over a decade to win his first league title with the club. And for the moment, Gerrard is still waiting for a league triumph.
As for the club, the Merseysiders have not won the title in the Premier League era, with their last triumph coming in 1990, in manager Kenny Dalglish's previous reign - now more than 20 years ago.
The Liverpool skipper recently expressed the fear that he may never win the league in his career, and Neville wrote in his column for The Mail on Sunday: "Gerrard has been one of the best players in the Premier League over the past 13 years.
"He is a player who could have played in any of the leading sides in the world in that time.
"But when I read his words, about his desire to win the title with Liverpool, it reminded me of Bryan Robson at Manchester United in the Eighties in the era when I was growing up supporting the club, and when at times he was like a one-man team.
"Both players have shown immense loyalty to their clubs in the greatest years of their careers and, like Gerrard, Robson spent most of his time wondering whether he would ever win a league title.
"Robson eventually got his reward in 1993 and if Gerrard doesn't in the next few years then to say it would be hugely disappointing would be a massive understatement.
"The fact that Liverpool haven't won the title for 20 years needs addressing. United in the Bryan Robson days were very much like Liverpool today."
Gerrard is currently recovering from an ankle injury, and is not expected to feature for Liverpool in the blockbuster clash against Chelsea on Sunday.
