Burnley sign Wolves striker Sam Vokes on loan until January
The Clarets have captured the 22-year-old for two months as they look to bolster their attack, with the Welsh forward on target twice in a recent friendly against Norway
By Alfie Meekings
It is Vokes’ fifth loan spell since joining the club in 2008, with the young forward finding it hard to break into the Premier League side’s starting XI, making only seven appearances this season, predominantly in the League Cup.
With the likes of Kevin Doyle, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Stephen Fletcher in the squad, it is unlikely that Vokes would have seen much more action, and Burnley boss Eddie Howe, who previously worked with the striker at Bournemouth, is delighted to have captured the 22-year-old on loan.
"I have known Sam for a long time, since he was 16 years old,” he told reporters.
"He did fantastically well in his early years at Bournemouth, got his move to Wolves and started really well there and is now getting international recognition.
"Sam is a striker in form who scored two goals for his country last week and he fits our criteria."
