Blackburn Rovers duo Michel Salgado and Scott Dann fit for Premier League trip to Wigan Athletic
Centre-back Christopher Samba is said to be close to a return to fitness, with the two defenders returning to action against their Lancashire rivals on Saturday
By Alfie Meekings
Rovers have conceded 24 goals already this campaign, and manager Steve Kean will be hoping that the return of key defenders can prevent his side conceding against Wigan on Saturday.
"Michel [Salgado] has trained all week and trained very well and looks fresh from his break," Kean told the club's official website.
"He's fully fit from his hamstring injury and also Scott [Dann] has trained well without feeling any effects of his calf so that is good."
Towering centre-back Christopher Samba is also in line to make a potential comeback from injury, after recovering well from a hamstring strain sustained against Chelsea a fortnight ago.
There had been fears that the Congolese defender would face up to six weeks on the sidelines, but he has responded surprisingly well to treatment, raising hopes he could play on Saturday.
"There is good news on Chris Samba," Kean continued.
"He's been out with the medical team on Tuesday, Wednesday and yesterday as well so it's going to be very close for him.
"So we'll have a good blast today and see if he is feeling his hamstring."
Blackburn currently sit second from bottom in the Premier League table, and will be hoping a win over bottom placed Wigan on Saturday will help them edge out of the relegation zone.
