The Dutch star has netted four times in his last three outings for Harry Redknapp's side and says he just wants to entertain the fans as his side pushes for a top-four finish
The midfielder has got on the scoresheet against QPR, Newcastle and twice against Blackburn of late, and says his prime motivation is to entertain the Spurs supporters.
“Sometimes there's going to be a game that I don't score, but I'm in a good flow,” the former Real Madrid man told Sky Sports News.
“I play for the fans. That's the most important thing. They buy tickets to come to the stadium to see something nice.
“The whole team, not just me, loves to play, and loves to play with each other. We want to fight for each other.
“The top four is our goal,” he declared.
The Netherlands international reserved praise for two summer signings – on-loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor and midfielder Scott Parker, who have contributed to an unbeaten record for Harry Redknapp’s side ever since the pair joined the team.
“Adebayor’s a great player and a great lad as well,” Van der Vaart added.
“He's working really hard for the team. When he doesn't score it's so important, he gives passes, works, he's quick and he's got good technique.
“Scott Parker at the moment is our best player because it's amazing how he tackles and blocks the ball. It's amazing to watch him.”
The Dutchman will look to extend his run of goals when Spurs take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
