After a disappointing start to the season, the Toffees midfielder believes his team-mates have the ability to come away from St James' Park with all three points
The Toffees have lost five of their opening nine games, whereas Alan Pardew’s side are unbeaten in 10 matches, and lie third in the table.
Everton recorded a 2-1 victory when they visited St James' Park last season, which was start of a successful run for the Merseyside club, and Osman sees the upcoming match at St James' Park as an opportunity for his side to do the same again.
Osman told the club's official website: "They are third in the table now they are unbeaten after 10 games of the season and are looking very strong - particularly at home.
"It's another very difficult game but it's one where we are going to be positive, go up there and try and get the win.
"The win there last year summed up the season for us, after adversity we came back and really triumphed.
"We had a 2-1 win and it was probably the start of a nice little run for us."
Everton have suffered in the opening stages of the campaign, but Osman has hailed the performances of Tony Hibbert.
"It's credit to him, he's a top player and I've been saying for years that he's one of the best full-backs in the country and he's finally getting his rewards for that,” he said.
"He loves playing against an out and out winger where he's going to get a tough battle and it's good to finally see him get the plaudits he deserves."
