Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini wants to thank the club's supporters for their loud support in the losing display against Blackburn Rovers with a win against Stoke City.
The Toon Army were in full voice as their side battled to an entertaining but ultimately fruitless 4-3 defeat at Rovers' hands on Wednesday to drop out of the League Cup.
Coloccini has revealed the disappointment his team-mates felt in the dressing room and is immediately focused on repaying his club's robust travelling supporter base.
"Everyone knows our supporters - they're always with us. That's good, and we have to say thank you for coming and supporting us," the Italian told The Chronicle.
"We were not happy [in the dressing room]. We didn't play well in the first half - we didn't do what we knew we had to do on the pitch. I think we gave them those 45 minutes."
"We hope to take three points for them at Stoke. It's still positive. We have to look forward."
"We showed our character. If we show that character every game, we'll be OK."
