'We deserved a point' - Chelsea's Petr Cech after 1-0 defeat to QPR

Goalkeeper believes his side should've had a draw for their performance despite the dual set-back of two red cards, but refuses to comment on the refereeing decisions
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech believes his side deserved a draw from their west London derby defeat against QPR on Sunday.

The clash at Loftus Road saw Chelsea downed 1-0 by the home side with Heidar Helguson converting from the penalty spot and both Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba handed red cards by referee Chris Foy.

Cech feels his team were unlucky not to take any points from the game after pressing for an equaliser throughout the second half despite their two-man disadvantage.

"I have never before played with nine men for such a long spell of time, at least I can't recall a situation like that," he told the club's official website.

"In the end it could have been even worse because we had seven yellow cards and anything could happen.

"It's a shame we did not win because in the previous fixtures we were in good shape. However, we started slowly.

"Under the circumstances in which the match was played, our performances with nine players on the pitch in the second half was fantastic and we deserved to equalise.

"After the interval I was rather a sweeper than a goalkeeper as I was outside of the box almost all the time trying to distribute passes."

The Czech Republic 'keeper almost salvaged a point for his side when he came up the pitch to attack late-on and almost headed home a free-kick.

"I was standing with my back to the QPR goal and flicked the ball with my head," he said.

"However, I only aimed into their goalkeeper. Had it gone a few centimetres elsewhere it would have ended up in."

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas was extremely critical of referee Foy's performance in his post match comments, but Cech refused to add any judgement on the performance, adding: "During the match a number of situations occurred and I am not going to comment on them.

"But everyone can take a look at the comments of our manager during the post-match press conference."
