thumbnail Hello,

White Hart Lane boss would like to sign the iconic England star, but admits he would probably struggle for playing time at Spurs ahead of Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says it is unlikely he will be signing David Beckham when the former England captain's LA Galaxy deal runs out as he would struggle to get into the Spurs first-team.

Beckham trained with Tottenham last winter ahead of a proposed loan deal, which eventually fell through.

But while Redknapp is keen to bring him back to north London, he says he doubts that any deal will materialise, citing the current abundance of options in midfield at White Hart Lane as a potential stumbling block.

"It's a difficult one. Listen, you would love him around your football club," Redknapp told reporters.

"You couldn't get a better professional and a nicer guy, but he wants to play and it would be difficult.

"I have a lot of players here at the moment and you know I have a lot of players in that sort of position so it wouldn't be easy, but who knows? Let's wait and see what happens when David's contract runs out at the Galaxy.

"You don't want to give yourself too many headaches in football. I've got Aaron Lennon who plays there. At the moment Gareth Bale plays there for Wales and he is doing very well."
