The FA rescind Jack Rodwell's red card against Liverpool after Everton's successful appeal

The young midfielder was rather harshly shown a straight red card for a lunge on Luis Suarez, despite seemingly taking the ball cleanly and will now face no sanction
Jack Rodwell's three-match ban for his dismissal in the Merseyside derby has been rescinded by the FA.

The Everton midfielder was given his marching orders by referee Martin Atkinson just 23 minutes into Saturday's clash, which Liverpool went on to win 2-0.

In a call that was widely deemed to be on the harsh side, the youngster seemed to get the ball first as he slid in on Luis Suarez, who went to ground without much invitation.

The FA announced on Tuesday that the red card has been withdrawn following Everton's appeal and subsequently the three-match ban would cease to exist.
