Former Wigan Athletic man suspended by Black Cats following arrest on Wednesday for alleged sexual assault and possession of Class A drug and will miss West Brom game on Saturday

Sunderland defender Titus Bramble has been suspended by the Black Cats pending an investigation by the club into the incident which led to his arrest by police on Wednesday.

The former Wigan man was arrested after being accused of sexual assault and possession of a Class A drug but was released on bail on Wednesday evening.

Sunderland have confirmed today that the defender will miss Saturday’s game with West Brom at the Stadium of Light as well as training until further inquiries have been made into the incident.

A statement on the club’s official website said: “Sunderland AFC has confirmed that Titus Bramble has been suspended from duties, pending the outcome of a club investigation.

"The player will not attend team training or be available for selection for matches during this period.

"The club is unable to make any further comment on the matter at present."
