QPR striker DJ Campbell delighted at Joey Barton being made captain

New signing from relegated Blackpool believes making the former Newcastle man the club's new captain is a good move by manager Neil Warnock

QPR striker DJ Campbell has hailed Neil Warnock's decision to give new signing Joey Barton the captain’s armband.

Campbell, who arrived from Blackpool in the summer, is delighted that Barton is the club’s new captain and believes the entire squad has already taken to the one-time England international.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Campbell said: “He's [Barton] a great lad and I'm delighted if the gaffer named him captain.

"He's a good person. A lot of people say bad things about him but, in the time I've known him and spoke to him, he's been superb.

“The lads took to him straight away and I'm sure he took to the lads straight away.

"Joey is Joey. He has been there and done it before."
