The striking Premier League images shortlisted for the Barclays Photographic Awards 2011

Some of the country's leading sports photographers have captured these stunning moments from the English top flight from the past season and are shortlisted for accolades
These are the striking images that capture the extraordinary tapestry of action and theatre we witness in the English top flight every weekend.

Premier League sponsors Barclays
have announced the shortlist for the Barclays Photographic Awards for 2011.

After a huge number of entries to the competition, which is open to all professional photographers worldwide, the sponsors have chosen a selection of images which were deemed to best capture the essence and emotion of the 2010-11 Barclays Premier League season.

Split into two categories, The Barclays Photographer of the Season will be judged on five images submitted with the winner receiving £10,000 of photographic equipment.

The Barclays Shot of the Season will be decided from the best single image submitted by each photographer. The winner will also receive a Barclays Award together with £5,000 of photographic equipment.

A judging panel including Chairman of the Football Writers Association Steve Bates, Sky Sports Commentator Martin Tyler, and last year’s winner Bradley Ormesher from The Times will decide the winners.
