The quick left-sided player believes the pace of football in England will see him do well during the year ahead at Goodison Park, having joined on loan from the Spanish giants
The 24-year-old Dutchman, comfortable anywhere on the left flank, will spend the season at Goodison Park and feels he is suited to the task ahead.
“I think my qualities are English qualities, the way I play football,” he told Everton’s official website.
“I have technique and like to work hard. I think this competition is a perfect competition for me.
“The Spanish league was a good league but different. It is not as fast, it is slow.
“Here it goes fast and I think that is more my style of play.”
Drenthe has long been out of favour at the Santiago Bernabeu ever since the arrival of manager Jose Mourinho, and spent an unhappy time on loan at Hercules last season.
Before falling out with the Hercules directors and coaches, he had started his spell in good form and will be looking to rediscover that at Goodison Park.
The Dutchman, blessed with extreme pace, will hope to catch the eye of national coach Bert van Marwijk to add to his solitary international cap.
