Owen Coyle is determined to make sure Bolton Wanderers continue their great start to the season by making more additions to the squad.

Reportedly, Shaun Wright-Phillips could join the club this week and talks are ongoing with Liverpool for striker David Ngog.

Bolton, who kicked off their season with a 4-0 victory at QPR, have brought in several faces over the summer, and Coyle feels his side can prove their doubters wrong.

Coyle told the Bolton News: “People lined up to tell us there was no Jack Wilshere, we’ll struggle, now they’re saying there’s no Daniel Sturridge or Johan Elmander.

“We have to make sure we evolve, and if that means we have to change a few things, then that’s what we’ll do.”

Bolton have recently signed former Middlesbrough striker Tuncay on a season-long loan deal from Wolfsburg, but Coyle thinks they might need more attacking options.

“We do need strength in depth, though, and after signing Tuncay I’d like to add another striker and a winger. You probably know who they are but finances will play a part in all that," he continued.

“You’ve seen a great performance from a group of players we’ve still got to add a couple of names to, and a couple of injuries to come back in. When you think what happened in pre-season, it was an absolute credit to see what they did.”

According to reports, Man City winger Wright-Phillips is currently pondering a £2.5 million move to the Reebok Stadium but he has also had an offer from Stoke City.

Bolton have offered £3.75m for Ngog but are yet to hold talks with the striker as they look to replace Sturridge, who is unlikely to rejoin on loan from Chelsea.

Despite the search for additions to his strike force, Coyle has praised the existing squad members and believes they all have goals in them, especially Fabrice Muamba.

“There are goals in Fabrice’s game. Everyone has had this perception of him as a defensive midfielder and I’ve tried to instll that in him since I’ve been here that he has got more than that," he said.

“You’ll remember his goal against Wigan, so he can do that kind of thing, it’s just about encouraging him to get forward. With Nigel Reo-Coker there, prepared to screen, pass and all the other clever stuff, it does give him a chance to push on.”
