Chelsea have agreed a fee with Anderlecht for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku and the striker will join the club subject to a medical and personal terms being agreed, the Belgian club have confirmed.

The Blues have long been linked with a move for the highly-rated 18-year-old and now appear to have finally secured his services, a week ahead of the start of the new Premier League season, although no fee has yet been revealed.

The club confirmed "a final agreement had been reached" with Chelsea, while Lukaku revealed via his Twitter account that he is set for a medical in London next week.

"RSC Anderlecht and FC Chelsea reached today, Saturday August 6 2011, a final agreement on the transfer of striker Romelu Lukaku," read a statement on the club's official website.

"Subject to the results of medical tests and handling the final details between the player and his new club Romelu Lukaku will from the current 2011-2012 season be a player of Chelsea FC."

Anderlecht manager Herman Van Holsbeeck also took time out to reveal his disappointment at the loss of his star man, but wished him luck in his future career.

"It is unfortunate that Romelu - RSCA discovered and trained - is let go, but the transfer is a win-win situation for the player and the club," said the Anderlecht boss.

"The management is committed to finding a good replacement as soon as possible.

"We wish Romelu luck with the rest of his career."

The news is likely to please manager Andre Villas-Boas who had earlier urged Chelsea to sign Lukaku following the Blues' 3-1 pre-season friendly win over Rangers.
