The former Aston Villa goalkeeper is happy with the club's pre-season preparations, feeling that the team are getting into the winning habit ahead of the new campaign
The former USA international moved to White Hart Lane on a free transfer after a lengthy spell with Aston Villa, and understands the importance of pre-season fixtures to get the team at full fitness and back in the winning mentality come August 13.
Following the 3-2 pre-season victory over Brighton, in which he played the first half, Friedel told the club's official website: “It’s always good to win games. It doesn't matter if that’s on the training ground or in a friendly, it’s good to get into the winning habit."
He added: “Okay, it’s not the be all and end all in pre-season, you want to get through games for fitness, but if you can pick up wins as well it breeds confidence for the squad.
“The lads are getting more and more match fitness in, that’s what we want, that’s what pre-season is about and we’ll be ready come Everton."
When asked about his own fitness, Friedel responded: “I feel fit, I feel the sharpness is getting there and coming into the last couple of weeks before the real thing starts, everyone is getting there.
“You can tell in training that things are starting to gel again and we’re all excited to start.”
