The two strikers played together against Columbus Crew in their latest match and the Nigerian-born striker believes they both have qualities which will compliment each other
The pair played together against Columbus Crew in a friendly clash that ended 3-0 to the Magpies, with Ameobi netting one of the goals.
Pardew is likely to add to his attacking options, but the Nigerian-born striker is convinced that he and Ba have what it takes to become a formidable pair.
"It is the first time we have really played together," he told The Chronicle.
"It is interesting. He is a great player and clever mover - somebody great to work with for me, personally.
"I have had partnerships with bigger guys before and it has worked well. Demba, though, is very good on the ball as well."
He added: He knows exactly what to do and works hard. I feel we can gel if we can get the chance to do it."
