The former West Ham man admits that he hopes to see the Anfield player return to Serie A, whilst admitting that pre-season in Italy is 'very different' to EnglandWest Ham United midfielder Valon Behrami has admitted he would like to see Liverpool’s Alberto Aquilani playing alongside him at Fiorentina next season.
Aquilani’s future on Merseyside remains uncertain after a tough time settling in England following his £20 million move from Roma in 2009.
After spending last season on loan at Juventus many thought Aquilani would make a permanent return to Serie A, and Behrami would relish the chance to line-up alongside the 27 year-old.
"Aquilani to Fiorentina? He has excellent qualities," Behrami told reporters.
"With him I'm sure we could make a quantum leap."
The Swiss midfielder returned to Italy in January from West Ham after finding his first team opportunities limited having struggled with a series of injuries, and he admitted his first pre-season at Fiorentina was something of a culture shock.
"We are working hard on the physical level," he added.
"The preparation is very different from England.
"It has been three years since I worked so much in the pre-season and I'm no longer used [to it]."
