Liverpool midfielder Raul Meireles has stated that he will not be leaving the club this season, despite boss Kenny Dalglish adding two new recruits to an already crowded central midfield this summer.
Speculation has been circulating that the Portuguese international could be on his way out after the arrivals of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam for a combined cost in excess of £20 million.
However, asked by a reporter if he was staying at Liverpool, Meireles replied: "Of course."
The 28-year-old midfielder is nursing an injury on the club's pre-season tour of China, and added: "I have a little problem with my ankle, but I've started training today. It's a little problem."
Another Liverpool player looking forward to starting the season with a bang is record signing Andy Carroll, who arrived at Anfield in January carrying an injury.
"It was disappointing since I signed being injured, getting myself back fit," Carroll said.
"Now I'm getting myself fit I'm looking forward to the start of the season, which should be successful."
