thumbnail Hello,

Boss looking for specific type of forward to fit into the system that he wants to implement at the club and he admits they are looking at every striker possible

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew says he is still looking for an extra striker or two to add to his front line before the start of the season.

The club has been short of a goalscorer Andy Carroll left the club in January – which was followed this summer by the loss of captain and last season's top scorer, Kevin Nolan – and Pardew has yet to use all of the £35 million that was received for the transfer of the England international.

Pardew has signed Demba Ba from West Ham United but he insists that he is still looking for a certain type of striker to fit into the system that he wants to implement at the club.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "We are still looking hard for a striker, and we have got our eyes on every striker who is available at the moment. But they have to be the right fit for this club.

"There is a certain genre they have to fit into. And we will be striving for them to fit into that category."

Pardew has already snapped up several French talents, including Liverpool-linked Sylvain Marveaux and league winner Yohan Cabaye, as well as Ba.
