Sunderland have reportedly signed former Arsenal trainee Roarie Deacon on a one-year deal.

The 19-year-old striker had become a free agent at the end of last season when the Gunners released him from his contract, and Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has apparently wasted little time in bolstering his striking options.

Deacon scored four goals in 16 appearances for Arsenal Reserves last term, and also helped the Gunners' Under-19 team reach the semi-finals of the prestigious Dallas Cup earlier this year.

Sunderland’s signing of Deacon would increase their strike force further, following Steve Bruce’s signings of strikers Connor Wickham from Ipswich and Ji Dong-Won from Chunnam Dragons.
