The England Under-21 international spent a year at the DW Stadium and is wanted back by Roberto Martinez to help them stave off relegation and push up the Premier League table
Wigan Athletic want Tom Cleverley to return to the club for another season on loan from Manchester United, according to The Sun.
The midfielder spent the last campaign with Roberto Martinez’s side, helping them survive a relegation battle that finished on the final day of the season with a 1-0 away win over Stoke City.
It is possible that the 21-year-old’s success at the DW Stadium means he will move up the United pecking order and be pushing for regular football at the Premier League champions.
However, if Cleverley does choose to spend another season away from Old Trafford on loan, Martinez will hope he will opt for Wigan over other possible suitors.
The England youth international played at the European Under-21 Championships for the national side, who went out in the group stages after failing to win any of their three games.
The midfielder, who has spent time on loan at Leicester City and Watford in the past, has yet to play a competitive match for United.
Wigan boss Martinez will also be keen to hold on to winger Charles N’Zogbia, who is being chased by former club Newcastle United, among others, but the club are refusing to accept offers below their valuation of the player.
