Hamburg have joined the long list of clubs interested in Basel teenager Xherdan Shaqiri.
HSV coach Michael Oenning revealed that the Germans have contacted the Swiss outfit over the availability of the 19-year-old.
"It is correct that we have shown our interest to Basel and director of sport Frank Arnesen has contacted the club," said Oenning in an interview with Blick.
It has been reported that Basel want €8 million [£7.1m] for the talented youngster, a sum Hamburg are unwilling to pay.
Shaqiri has been linked with Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool, Manchester United, Fiorentina, and most recently Roma.
His price is likely to increase after his stellar performances for Switzerland at the European Under-21 Championship in Denmark.
