The club’s supremo says they are working on two deals for new players at the moment, but, after being linked with Roger Johnson and Matt Mills, insists neither are for centre-backsWolves chief executive Jez Moxey has revealed the club are actively pursuing transfer targets, and has reassured fans that they have numerous players on the shortlist.
Reading’s Matt Mills and Birmingham’s Roger Johnson have both been heavily linked with moves to Molineux as they look to bolster their squad and avoid another season battling at the bottom of the Premier League table, but Moxey says their current targets are for other positions within the squad.
"At the moment we have nothing to say other than I am currently working on two deals," he told the Express & Star.
"And neither of them are for centre halves."
Mick McCarthy’s men guaranteed their Premier League survival on the final day of the season despite a 3-2 defeat to Blackburn Rovers, and Moxey acknowledges if they are to have a less stressful end to the next campaign they need to make signings during the summer.
"We have a number of different enquiries in with a number of different clubs for players,” he added.
"What we are not doing is putting all our eggs in one basket."
