Manchester United stars Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen have taken to Twitter to voice their pleasure at the arrival of new signing Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers.
While his new team-mates have been quick to give their backing to the £16 million youngster, Jones spoke of enjoying his time at Ewood Park and explained his decision to leave the club.
"I'd just like to start off by saying that I've loved my time at Blackburn and I will always be a huge fan," tweeted Jones.
"But this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am looking forward to a new challenge. Thank you for all your kind messages."
As for his new team-mates, Michael Owen was first to voice his approval of the deal hailing it as "great news."
He was joined by Rio Ferdinand, whose place in the United defence will come under threat from both Jones and Chris Smalling in the new season.
"Welcome to Phil Jones, another top young talent joining the club," expressed the England international. "The future is bright, I think he knows the stay on your feet movement."
Rooney, currently holidaying in Barbados, who tweeted: "Welcome to Manchester United, Phil Jones. Looking forward to playing with you."
