Tom Cleverley believes victory against Stoke will be enough for Wigan to secure Premier League survival

On-loan midfielder believes it would be harsh if the club was relegated on 42 points and he cannot wait for the season finale which was set up by Saturday's 'crazy' victory

Wigan Athletic midfielder Tom Cleverly thinks victory on Saturday will be enough to secure their Premier League survival.

Wigan kept up their hopes of staying in the top flight with a dramatic 3-2 victory over West Ham United on Sunday which in turn relegated the Hammers.

Cleverley believes that a win this coming Sunday against FA Cup finalists Stoke City should keep them safe.

He told Sky Sports: "There is a week's worth of hard work still to be done and then another good performance.

"We know we have a tough task ahead but we've just got to stay focused on our game.

"42 points will get us above either Wolves or Blackburn, who play each other, and then Birmingham and Blackpool have both got tough ties away from home.

"You've got to be very unlucky to go down with 42 points but all we can do is focus on ourselves and get the three points."

The Latics had to come from 2-0 behind to beat the Hammers on Sunday and reflecting on the game, Cleverley admitted to being stunned by the outcome.

He added: "It was just crazy. I have never seen as many opportunities in one game of football or in the space of 20 minutes.

"We were just fortunate to get the winner and take it to next week."
